SVOffice 2009, like many applications, has some customization options. All of them are stored in the user's application storage directory, with one exception. The file NETHASP.INI, which is required for network dongles, must be located in the same directory as the application.
The NETHASP.INI file has a number of settings. The most common settings that need to be applied when using SVOffice 2009 are:
- NH_SERVER_ADDR - this can be set to the specific IP address of the server that is hosting the network usb key
- NH_USE_BROADCAST - this setting is set to False when used in combination with NH_SERVER_ADDR
There are two ways to configure this file:
- Directly from SVOffice 2009, in the Authorization dialog (usually requires administrator privileges).
- Manually edit.
If you have administrator privileges, you may configure NETHASP.INI directly from SVOffice 2009, in the Authorization dialog. The dialog supports configuration of the IP address of the server where the License Manager is located and setting of timeout lengths. Alternatively, you can hand-edit NETHASP.INI if required.
If you do not have administrator privileges, you can still configure NETHASP.INI from SVOffice 2009, but it will be stored in a different place. Windows 7 implements a virtual storage directory, which acts as a "mirror" to hold per-user copies of files that users are not allowed to change. This means that each user would have to configure their "copy" of SVOffice 2009 the first time they run it, or have their IT department create a script to duplicate the master copy of NETHASP.INI when they log in. This virtual storage directory is normally found at \<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SoilVision\SVOffice 2009.
If you have firewalls:
If you have firewalls on the server or local computers they may need to be configured to allow TCP/UDP port 475. If there is an internal and external firewall you may need to allow port 475 on both firewalls. To set a different port use the NH_PORT_NUMBER setting.
If you have timeout and communication issues:
Try adjusting the following settings:
NH_SESSION = <Num>
NH_SEND_RCV = <Num>
Where <Num> is a time in seconds.
NH_SESSION sets the maximum length of time during which the application tries to establish communication with the NetHASP License Manager. The default is 2 seconds.
NH_SEND_RCV sets the maximum length of time for the NetHASP License Manager to send or receive a packet. The default is 1 second.
Please note that separate copies of NETHASP.INI exist for both SVOffice and FlexPDE, so the above information should be used to configure both copies. For IT purposes, we recommend the first option - work with your IT department to configure NETHASP.INI, store the result in the real applications directory, and arrange to back it up somehow. Then, remove any virtual copies that may have been created in the user directories.
